BRISBANE trainer Shaun Dwyer's decision to bring talented mare Sunday Adieu to Sydney for a stint paid dividends when the four-year-old romped home in the Miller & Associates Pty Ltd Handicap.
Dwyer thought enough of Sunday Adieu to send her around in the Doomben Cup, in which she finished ninth behind Cinque Cento. He then brought Sunday Adieu to Rosehill for a midfield result in the McKell Cup won by Zavite."I have been riding her in her trackwork down here and she had really come on since the run at Rosehill," winning jockey Danny Beasley said."And the way she felt today I think she has even more improvement in her."She is really starting to respond to me."Sunday Adieu was specked in the betting to start at $3.60 and came with a barnstorming run in the straight to score by a resounding four lengths. Outsider Lion Again ($41) ran home well for second, while race favourite Zeagle Eagle ($2.90) battled away into third.Dwyer's wife Geraldine was on course yesterday and said Sunday Adieu was likely to back up in a class five event over 2400m on the Kensington track next Saturday."I don't think the step up to the 2400m will worry her in the slightest," Beasley said."She ran it out strongly in the McKell Cup [when ridden by James Innes] and was a bit fresher for the 1800m today. It [the race next week] won't be a drama."Beasley paid credit to Dwyer, saying a vital gear change played a significant part in the victory yesterday."Shaun decided to take the winkers off her and she was really settled in the run today," he said."It may well have been a winning move."
