BRIAN Mayfield-Smith's decision to scratch promising three-year-old Sniparama last Saturday looks like paying dividends at Sandown today.

The Flemington trainer pulled Sniparama out of Saturday's 1400m Sandown event, won by 40-1 shot Jungle Ruler who led all the way, after he drew the outside barrier.

But the Pins gelding has drawn nicely in barrier five in today's Hydrogen Handicap (1300m) which attracted a 15-horse field.

Mayfield-Smith produced Sniparama for a winning race debut at Sandown on March 7 when he won comfortably from one of his rivals today, Electronic Cross.
