TABCORP has been left to explain a huge gulf between the NSW and Super TAB quaddie and daily double dividends after different substitutes were declared following the Caulfield Cup scratching drama on Saturday.

For Super TAB punters, the winner Master O'Reilly was declared the sub, leading to the double paying $21.40 and the quaddie $1094.30.

However, Maybe Better was favourite on the NSW TAB and made the sub, which was a boom for punters who had Master O'Reilly in the double and quaddie.

The NSW quaddie paid $10,755.30 and the double with La Chasseuse returned $64.10.

"No system is perfect for the way late scratchings are treated but the declaration of the substitute at the close of win betting is perceived to be the fairest for punters," Tabcorp said.

There are winners and losers on both sides but the quicker we get to co-mingling of pools the better.
